knee support elastic sleeves?

What is your opinion? They help, interfere, have limited/specific uses, favourite brands, warnings? I see 100 replies coming!

I first used when I was 35 , to reduce pain of a Baker's cyst. Now 28 years later I am waiiting to see an orthopedic MD about current knee problem (same knee) and whether it is osteoarthritis or what.

It seems to be a trade-off. Tightness /support vs. comfort/not doing the job. The pharmacist where I am now thinks the Taiwanese size L is actually too loose. Feels more than tight enough for me and does help. The question is whether it is suitable for biking anc walkinv not sitting writing notes!

I see sport versions with hole for knee and velcro adjustable (free size). I have seen mild and moderate support versions only.
