Bikes: Custom Giant Anyroad Flatbar, Custom Raw Steel Raleigh XXIX SS

Lemond Wayzata!!!

First of all let me just say.... I LOVE CRAIG'S LIST!!! LOL!

I picked up this beautiful Lemond Wayzata for a song on CL this past week. I had never owned a steel bike before and when I saw this one listed I had to have it. It's a 2002 model and from the info I have found it was built on Lemond's Cross frame and it actually came with the flatbar. I think this is a pretty obscure model that not a lot of people are familiar with. It's built with Reynolds 853 steel.

The bike is in almost new condition and it came with some nice (not great) components but in my typical fashion I started right in on the upgrades. The bike is a 59cm and it was just a touch too large for me with the stock stem (130mm) and a setback seatpost. So I sourced a shorter stem on ebay and robbed my parts bin for a nice Thompson zero setback seatpost. I plan on using this bike for around the neighborhood and on the railtrails so I don't really need a wide gear range. I found a great deal (again on CL) on a nice carbon FSA crankset and removed the larger chainring. This also meant I had no need for the front derailleur so that was removed as well. Rounding out the list of upgrades, I saved the best for last. I recently purchased a Merlin Titanium road bike to build into a flatbar road bike and it came with a set of brand new Mavic Ksyriums and I have set of Mavic Carbone SLR's that I'm going to use on that bike so I tossed the Ksyriums on this bike.

Additionally, I did a complete tuneup including new cables but I still have a few things I would like to add such as an XT rear derailleur, XT shifter and I may convert it to canti brakes. It's just about done so I thought I would share. Let me know what you think.
