And back in that day and age, everyone cycled to school. I started cycle commuting at the age of 6 too. That was probably a large part of the reason they had a cycling safety program in school.
I went to elementary school in the 1960s. We didn't have any bicycle education at all. I don't remember any kids riding to school either, though a lot of us walked to school alone. Maybe it was because I grew up in what was then the outer fringes of suburbia.

I kind of had to learn to ride a bike on my own. My mother never knew how. I guess my father did, but I never saw him on a bike. It took me 2 years to learn to ride.
