Standard LBS practice is "sell him another saddle." I don't think they selected well, since you are not complaining about perineal pain or pinching, or numbness. Cutouts are mainly for those issues.

Saddles are a very personal thing. I have a Brooks B-17 that I sent to Selle Anatomica and had it cut out.Selle Anatomica - We make the world's most comfortable leather bicycle saddle. Period. Selle guarantees satisfaction and so do some Brooks dealers. It's the bomb for me and I will never have another plastic shell saddle. Brooks has the Imperial with the cut out too. Leather molds to your sit bones. These are worth checking out but be sure that the dealer accepts returns.

I don't think losing 8 pounds is the issue. You just need to get a saddle that works for you.
