Well, RideMyWheel, I was about 50 when I got into cycling. Your words are good wisdom, if I keep it up I suspect I may live longer than my father or grand father.
I will also add this about your look for a bike. When I was 40, the rigid aluminium frames seemed good. I got a Carbon bike when I was 50, it was ok, fast kinda smooth.
A friend introduced me to steel frames, after riding steel for 2 months I sold all my other bikes, invested in a Surly Long Haul Trucker, the comfort wins hands down.
I am not saying its the only steel frame bike but every one I talk to in older years like steel.
