lfgss: locks that work

LONDON, with a brand new Cannondale Bad Boy 6 ... Commuter .... OUCH

I would Recommend, "MOST STRONGLY", That a Commitment of Quality Time in the above thread would be Extremely Valuable (at least worth the REPLACEMENT price of your brand new "Ripped Off", bike thief - magnet, check how much your new, very desirable, disk brake, front or rear wheels would cost to replace, should one or both decide to take a stroll). Assuming, you may be unaware of the LFGSS website.
The "Locks that work" thread was started in early 2009 and has been regularly active since inception. It is now up to 49 pages and over 2400 posts (at 50 posts per page).
FORTUNATELY the o.p. has made the FIRST TWO POSTS a distillation list of Locks That Have Worked over the years (he edits and updates this list regularly). It is Important to Note, that as the list now stands, BIG K's NYFU is tied for #1 position with a german U/D lock that sells for over US $200-250 on amazon-US.
Speaking as a satisfied several year user of the NYFU, I also feel strongly that you should Understand it's proper use as well as it's very real limitations (chiefly, that despite it's massive overall size and weight, that it is a true mini U/D lock, with internal capacity measurements almost identical to the Abus U-mini 40/130,of which I own a yellow one). NYFU and mini's in general, work best with traditional style, short wheel base, tight geometry, track, crit, and road bikes with skinny tires and minimally aero rims, Teamed with not too large a diameter inverted U type bike locking station.
