I have SRAM X.7 3X9 High-Clamp 28.6/31.8/34.9 Dual Pull Front Derailleur that I can't seem to get aligned. When I place the clamp high enough on the seat tube to clear the large chain ring the chain scrapes on the bottom of the cage when in the small ring. If I lower the clamp to allow the chain to clear the cage on small ring then the cage hits the side of the large ring when shifting up (cage is about 4 - 5mm lower than necessary to clear the large ring). (44 tooth large ring 22 tooth small ring)

I'm moving parts from one frame to another (cracked frame) and these parts worked just fine on the old frame. The old frame had a low clamp front derailleur and i was having the problem stated above, so I bought a high clamp thinking this would resolve my issue ... I was wrong. So really I have both High and Low clamp 3x9 MTB front derailleur and am experiencing the same problem with both ... where has my amateur hour gone wrong?
