While walking my bike at the Seattle Center, at the base of the Space Needle, a young boy, maybe 5, yelled out "I like your bike, mister!". I turned around, said thank you and gave him a thumbs-up.
On the ride back on the Burke-Gilman, I was taking it easy and a couple fast guys on modern carbon went by on my left. One of them looked over at me, pointed at my bike and gave me a thumbs-up. He was probably in his 30s.
I just hope that when that 5 year old grows up he remembers that brief moment and in one way or the other keeps the flame alive.
