I owned a Cross Check and I own a CAAD9 (virtually same as 10). I commute but don't race but may eventually. I would go with CAAD10. Cross Check has cross geometry and it's heavy. It's slightly cheaper than a 105 CAAD10 but the Cross Check complete is way overpriced for the components. It is really worth about $900 when you look at what your getting. To race it you would want to put sti levers on and new wheels. You'd probably want different size chain rings and handle bars too. You could get a frame and do a custom build but that will cost more than the CAAD10
