To my knowledge, the Technium line varies in the aluminum used for the tubes and the groupset. I have a '91 Technium Pro and an '89 Technium PRE both 58cm. They PRE uses Suntour Accushift while the Pro is Shimano 105. Both are rolling on 700x20 tires. Great bikes in my opinion and great bargains when compared to steel bikes with similar components.
Only difference I have noticed is a difference in the lug size when comparing models. I can only guess that they are different based on the alloy used and needing to keep the same strength. I attached pics to compare.
At any rate, I picked up the PRE last night for $50 and the Pro last year for $60. I got good deals though and have seen them sell for $100+
