My friend found out the hard way the other day. He had a flat on his 29" bike while we were cycling in so-called developed Singapore, we went to 2 bike shops to replace the flat, both have 26" tube but not 29". I can't imagine you would have a better luck in the remote area of Asia. This incident has convinced me if I ever want to build a bike for long tour, I will always go with 26".
If they had tubes for a 590 26" then that would work in a pinch. A little skinny for 2"+ tires, but useable.
