You can ride and enjoy it without being wantonly destructive. That doesn't automatically mean you're babying the thing and treating like it's "made of glass". I agree it would be a waste to buy (and build) it, then not ride it, but I also agree that it's equally dumb to tear up a limited production item, whether by neglect or willful abuse.
chill son, nostalgia is manufactured in this case[not saying thats a bad thing] and the 'limited production' is irrelevant considering its not made of magic. the JYD is not a vintage lugged and columbus tubed beauty that people will build up to mount on the wall. im saying, wanton destruction at varying levels is what the JYD should be used for. willful abuse? im not talking about throwing a bike down on its drive side here, im talking about riding the bike. i didnt realize this was the touring forum.
