Well, you say you have a Wilier Gran Turismo, which Google tells me is a pretty pricey bike. Do you really want to screw around trying to save a few bucks and maybe have an unfixable flat at the worst possible time, under the worst possible conditions? For peace of mind, bite the bullet and get a new (tougher) tire. Conti Gator Hardshell works well for me.
