I use most of my foot as a leg extension through most of the pedal stroke (nonconventional) it just happens naturally so when I've tried 165 or 160 cranks it becomes a fit problem and on a longer ride I did, was causing a knee issue. Dunno if that helps make sense to you or not, but it is what it is.
