Greetings from the Central Oregon Coast

Hi folks,

Just joined this forum, but I’ve accessed it several times for technical info. I’ve been an active cyclist for many, many years. During this time I’ve progressed through from balloon tired bikes as a pre-teen to a three speed to early ten speeds (Schwinn Continental) to better ten speeds (Raleigh Competition) to custom frames to tandems to mountain bikes and more.

Over the years I’ve built, rebuilt and upgraded a multitude of bikes for family and friends. I collected a few specialty bikes, but have passed most of these on. Current bikes include: A mid-70s Wm. Sampson custom sports tour w/ Campy Rally Group, Universal Brakes & Suntour barcons; A 1988 Nishiki Linear Time Trial funny bike; An early 90s Gary Fisher MTB with Deore XT components; A mid-90s Nashbar MTB tandem with Deore LX components; An old Aluminum framed MTB converted to a single speed as a “townie” and a Respect Cycles Mini Velo 2 speed for the RV.

Four years ago I retired to a small town on the Central Oregon Coast where I can enjoy back street and back road cycling in a quiet setting. Since moving here I haven’t done any bike projects, just keeping the ones I have serviced. I may start a “street restoration” in the future.

Regards,

Van
