Two ways to make a bike go faster. Choose a higher gear and pedal harder. pedal faster in the gear you have.

tension is usually the term for how tight the chain is set at (the distance between the crank and the rear cog) with no pedal pressure. Don't make the mistake in having this no load chain tightness set too high. You'll increase the BB, rear hub, cog/ring and chain wear and have all kinds of rough feel in the pedals.

The Op might take this opportunity to train his body to be able to pedal smoothly at a higher cadence. Andy.
