Will be interesting to see the final results. Some concern that the rivet head will cause the guide to sit up a little from the top tube, which may be visually problematic. Also not sure how well super glue will hold aluminum to painted aluminum.

Have you tried just using a dab of Shoo Goo on each end of the bottom of the guide and holding it in place with masking tape over night? If you clean the pieces and tube with alcohol beforehand, that's a pretty effective bond and also seals the top tube holes.
