I'm just repeating what I read on the internets...Reynolds say that 753 used taper gauge stays, but I cannot confirm or deny that.
EDIT: Doing some more checking, it seems that only 753 T (for track frames) came with "butted" that is with TAPER GAUGE stays, but the odd thing is that this set also came with "wide-oval" fork blades, I would have expected round blades in a track set...Anyway, does not appear that any 531 sets had anything but plain-gauge stays, including the "red label" SL or PROFESSIONAL sets, but sometimes the specs call out "taper style stays", not sure what that means...
