That photo above was taken in one of the sprawly-est parts of Hobart ... one of the furthest south suburbs.


There are a small collection of suburbs in that area ... multi-use developments containing residential, shopping, restaurants, medical services, churches, schools, library, fitness centres, and industries.

In that photo, I'm on the Esplanade looking out at the Derwent River, near the mouth, close to where it becomes Storm Bay and then the Southern Ocean. Behind me are a small collection of cafes and residential. The "village centre" where most of the shopping, etc. etc. are located is about 4 km away. Easy cycling distance ... doable walking distance.


And it looks like a really nice area for cycling. Rowan has cycled there and enjoyed it ... I am looking forward to doing so.
