It depends on what you really plan on doing with it. If you are going to pound it hard on rough trails, then probably the GT since the frame on the Giant frame may not be able to handle it. If you are just looking at trails that are reatively smooth and dirt roads, then either one would work. My only concern with the Giant is if the frame will be able to handle the stresses of rough riding.
