This would also apply to soda bottles used to carry water to save weight. The sun liberates hormone disrupting possibly carcinogenic substances from certain plastics. In studies of rats given water out of BPA-free plastic vs. glass, the former live longer. I've read that all plastics can be hormone disrupting even if BPA-free.
