Sometimes you gotta be selfish lol

but I recently found a vitus 979 tube on craigslist but he's asking for 300$ for just the frame, excluding head tube. I asked him to send me a pick of the serial number to make sure it's the real thing but what else can help me make sure it's the real thing?

Also so the vitus has a great reputation but 300 seems high just for the frame. Also I heard its subjects to breaking very easily. What are your guys thoughts on this buy?
