Too many cyclists/joggers/walker/peds around here. It would get old really quickly. I go wide and get past them quickly. I will say it if I have to pass closely but usually just slow down and wait until it's safe to pass.
^^ This. I don't linger anywhere near them for very long and pick my moment to whiz past far enough away that any swerve is not going to touch me. Then, once I'm 60% past them, I say good morning (even if it's the afternoon) and leave them wondering WTF.
