They are awesome wheels -- no doubt. However, while people tend to have better experiences with them over Zipp and other similar types of wheels, even the Reynolds are definitely not the "ne plus ultra" of durability and low maintenance when compared to a standard wheel build. The carbon braking surface alone makes sure of that, as replacing "special" brake pads definitely counts as maintenance in my book. (Although, I'll admit its pretty easy maintenance.)
