I believe I bought my Zefal HP (NOT 'HP-X') pump in 1976 which is when I first saw them. It has a silver body and worked with both Presta and Shrader valves (but required that you exchange a few pieces in the head - I always carried the spare parts in my patch kit). It only came in one length and used the umbrella clip to hold the handle end.
I also have a HP purchased with the Moto Mirage in 79. Mine is shrader only so I keep the brass converter in it (and a wee cork to keep it clean). Mine also used the umbrella clip and the plastic wings on the head to hold it in a frame corner. Mine is down along the ST, clip up, wings down so the 'business side' of the pump head faces the DS. The white plastic wings got brittle and broke apart years ago so I whittled new wings out of a bit of 2mm thick black ABS plastic. Sits fine that way and it still pumps well after all those years.
