I have another update. I visited a different LBS (the one with the 10% and 20% discounts) and they had a 2012 synapse 5 with 105s for $1200 (20% discount already applied).

AFAIK the order is Claris/Sora/Tiagra/SRAM Apex/105

Once again, there is the issue of whether or not I should pay the extra 400 dollars to get the carbon especially since it has worse components.I don't really bike that far so I don't know if Carbon is going to be worth it.

Also, if I'm 5'10 would I be a size 54 or 56 or are both fine?

The 2012 5 is available in 56

The 2012 6C is available in 54 or 56

The 2014 6 is available in 54 or 56

you need to test ride all of the bikes.

I'm 5'11 and I ride a 54cm CAAD9. The CAAD and Synapse geo is a bit different but I would probably still be on a 54 Synapse. With that said I think most people my height ride a 56 or bigger. Bottom line is there is much more to bike fit than your height. Everyone has different proportions so what fits one 5'10 person won't fit another 5'10 person so take the time to get the fit right. If you are buying from an LBS it's their job to fit you properly
