That's what I learned when I was BMX racing; sure, BMX racing and road cycling are different worlds, but I would think they have some commonalities. I was never a spinner, I was always a torque rider. I ran 180mm cranks with big sprockets.

So the question remains, can the Campy Record cranks I have be mounted on my Trek 1000? I know there have been stupendous bottom bracket changes since I got the Campys. What challenges would I face? Would I be better off buying newer Shimano or Bontrager cranks in a 180mm length? Also, why is it -- as an earlier poster in this thread stated -- sacrilege to mount the Campys on my Trek?

I had always thought that Campys were the cream of the crop, which is why I'm considering this. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

Thanks,
Tim.
