If you want a bike to last 30 years, then buy a heavy duty one. But if you want to have the very best chance of winning a three week race, buy what you see being ridden in the race. Doesn't sound like the bike had much of a chance of winning a three week race. It only made it through week one and was taken out by a pothole.
Or by belkin team car that drove over it...if you want to believe what "they" say.
