I think you will do fine, you may find once you build up your mileage base that you are not using much of the bigger cogs on the cassette when your on the middle ring, and swap it out for maybe a 13-25 or something like that. I am riding 28/38/48 in front on a hybrid and 12-25 on the 8 speed cassette....I never use the small chainring at all really, but it is quite flat here tho, my average 20 mile ride has 70 feet of ascent/descent.
