I have tried to find if Brompton or someone else recommends one way of steering over another but nothing found yet.Any one have a bit more information on this or an opinion I'd love to hear it.
I do exactly the same and it is indeed the most stable and easy way to navigate the Brompton through the aisles.

I have no scientific evidence but I can't imagine a bike built to handle the stresses of bumpy roads with a 90kg human pressing down on it will fail on tiles or linoleum with a 30kg load of groceries.

I guess as long as you don't subject it to many sudden shocks - such as running down a long flight of stairs pushing a half-folded, grocery-laden Brompton - I don't expect for it to ever give any trouble in your situation.
