He said he'd fixed it up and it was ready to ride. Back then, I figured "ready to ride" meant ready to ride.
Turns out the coaster brake was an utter mess, either locking up or not grabbing at all, but worn past any real functionality. Had to replace the rear wheel, which wasn't a real expense, but c'mon. If something's not working right when I sell it, I make sure the buyer is aware. So at the time, that really irked me. "Scumbag" is maybe too strong a word, but I wasn't happy about my purchase and immediately assumed deception (rightly or wrongly).

Either way it was pretty odd, buying another bike where I'd gotten a bad deal before. It feels like we're even now, in terms of total money spent and total bikes received.
