Should I buy it to try out alu frame/carbon fork track bike or should I wait for something else? After having ridden only steel I'm curious about the alu/carbon combo (weight, responsive front end, snappy back end) and am thinking that although $800 is a lot, the frame will retain it's resale value if I don't like it. Best case the GEO is perfect, worst case I have to re-sell it.

What do you folks think? Worth the $800 flier? I'm pretty sure that due to my location (Oakland, bay area) and what Low// is asking from new buyers (4 month wait, $1200 for frame only) that $800 for frame & fork ain't really that much to ask for from a lightly used Low// frame if it comes to that.
I would go for it. You'll have no problems flipping it should the fit not be what you're looking for. I don't know how you intend to use the frame, but keep in mind that Low's geometry is just that: long and low. Great for racing, too aggressive for tooling around town IMHO.

The ride quality is going to be noticeably different than steel but not having ridden a LOW I can't speculate how it falls on the spectrum of alu frames.
