I know, I grew up in the "omg you're going to be kidnapped by a child predator!" era. It was rediculous.

There's something more going on behind it. Usually it's about money. I feel like people just keep going to their jobs and don't thin as much about their annoying work environments if they're instead convinced they could be killed and their's no other options.
