That was the period when Shimano's DA indexed shifting was introduced & Campag's miserable Syncro failed to catch-up.
We successfully raced Dura Ace indexed from `'84 on and have never looked back, regardless of which flavor or color of frameset.
I'm running DA 10spd DT on two of my bikes today, even the French one.....
