If you still work, the company may have a medical plan that would pay for the garmin if the physician wants you to monitor your physical activity. Make sure you send him the activity results. That includes the heart rate data.

There are different kinds of medical plans. Check with your human resources department. I would say that the Garmin is a heart monitoring device that's hooked up to your chest by a strap. Its for use during strenuous physical activity.
