Well I must report I ended up with only a 7000. I have a pro-biker friend and we looked at the componentry and I just decided it really wasn't worth the extra $100 right now. $360 is still a low-end bike and so we both felt like the 7200FX wasn't going to hold me over any better than the 7000 in case I really take up biking and want a really good bike later, plus I'll have an extra $100 in pocket if I do decide to upgrade to a better bike; likewise, there isn't a whole lot a casual rider is going to do on a 7200FX that can't be done on a 7000. Sure the components are a step up, but for my purposes I just didn't feel it was worth it; in my test ride I could hardly tell a difference other than mildly smoother shifting on the 7200FX.
But. I went to Dick's and their store sucks compared to their website. I bought nothing. So I'm going to make a mildly significant purchase over PerformanceBike.com or Nashbar.com.
I appreciate the advice! Thanks!!
