3T products are VERY easy to counterfeit in China.
it's listed as coming from Wisconsin from a high rated seller. that's what surprised me. but I guess that doesn't mean they couldn't have bought bulk from a Chinese/Thai company.

The difference in ride feel is non existent, the only difference is weight and that you can't use a star fangled nut on the carbon steerer, you have to be more careful with torque specs when attaching the stem, and cutting the carbon steerer needs a bit more finesse.
I'd say keep the alu/carbon fork unless it's a generic Chinese no name of dubious manufacture quality.
EDIT:BTW a flour tortilla can be either wheat or corn, since, y'know, flour doesn't necessarily mean one type or the other. Unless I'm missing something.
thanks a lot for the info. so durability wise riding is about even? from what you said it sounds like the riskiest time for a carbon steerer is while assembling. which could be more on the builder than the quality of the product.
