Straight top tubes are really old school. Compact geometries have slanting top tubes making for a lighter, stiffer frame.

In my opinion, this Fastroad has significantly better appointments than the RX--well justifying the extra cost. Say what you will about the new geometry, I would welcome 11 speeds, better 105 derailleurs, BUT especially 700 level shifters (assuming the RS700 is comparable to other Shimano 700 series flatbar shifters). Shifters make a huge difference while the difference between other components is slight when going from Tiagra to 105. Not only that, this is a really sexy looking bike. If I needed a performance hybrid, I'd be all over this!
