Next time any of you replace your bb30 bearings, use angular contact bearings instead. They're ideal for high torque, low rpm applications, and I really wonder why they aren't supplied in the first place. Part number is 71806. You can get a pair for like 20 bucks.

I've got about 7k miles on my bearings, gravel, rain, commuting, and sprints included. Not a feather weight either and nearly 200 lbs.

Honestly, just ****ing do it right. It's not rocket surgery.
1. Clean/wipe the BB shell down with rubbing alcohol.
2. Spray shell with loctite primer
3. Insert snap rings
4. Light coating of loctite 609 (press fit bearing retainer) on both the outer bearing race and the BB shell.
5. Press in your new angular contact bearings
6. Install crankset with correct preload
7. Laugh at future bb30 threads

It's a 20 minute operation. The solution has been the same since day one. 5+ years later I don't understand why there is so much confusion about BB30.

Again, just do it right. I'm sure a lot of parts suck when installed improperly.
