you might want to reconsider the Home Owner's claim. In today's insurance market, making small claims can effect your rates, and even the availability of insurance, way more than you get from the insurance.
I'm guessing the replacement cost on your bike is around $1,000, and your deductible is likely at least $500. For the $500 you'll net its not worth jeopardizing your insurance coverage, or rate.
I know it's lousy to lose your bike, and lousy not to take advantage of the insurance coverage you've paid for, but in the long run you're better off only filing homeowner's claims for catastrophic losses.
