Very well said with all the advice. I believe after a few overnighters I will be able to streamline. I already have things well placed so I know where to access them when needed and also have it figured out to prioritize the packing as well. If it is going to rain...the rain jacket is close at hand, if I know I'm hitting an ice cream place halfway through, I will have my money ready for sure!
I believe after a few trips out, I will be able to really come down on what I really need as opposed to what may be excessively too much. And as stated multiple times...with some items, It might be worth it for me to carry for my own comfort zone. Just like I know I will take a book I've been reading and I will most likely use my bike light, hanging in my tent to read before falling asleep. I will probably soon learn that items can be multipurpose and help condense down my pack size.
So thanks to all, tomorrow. I plan on a simple overnight ride up to a local state park, my wife's coming up later by vehicle with pizza by the camp fire, and then off to bed for me. It will be a 30-35 mile ride up to the site. So it might be just perfect for me to get a feel for what I need later on down the road.
