This site lists all the various club rides in and around Charlotte. There is bound to be a ride that goes near where you live. Maybe you can contact the various clubs to see when/where they recommend riding.

When I lived in town I would ride the Spirited Cyclist Saturday morning ride. If you are not too far from Huntersville I recommend it.

The site also provides a list of upcoming charity rides and other events.
