Bikes: 2008 Novara Randonee - love it. Previous bikes:Motobecane Mirage, 1972 Moto Grand Jubilee (my fave), Jackson Rake 16, 1983 C'dale ST500.

Here are some things I did for a commuter ridden in the winter in Michgan"

Disassemble fork/headset. Cut a short piece of wide inner tube, coat inside with waterproof grease and then fit over bottom of headset. Reassemble fork and push inner tube up onto bottom of head tube to form a seal.

Coat outer surface of hub cones and locknuts with a thin coat of waterproof grease. Run silicone seal around cones and locknut on the hubs to form a cone shaped sealing washer (removable once cured for overhauls.

Use O-rings to create a seal between crank arm and BB bearing.

Lubricate freewheel/cassette with Phil Wood Tenacious oil

Fenders

Though not a factor where you live it can be better to store it in a cold but sheltered area than in a heated one. Rust and corrosion, like all chemical processes, occurs faster at higher temps.
