I think his choice on tires fit the look he was going for better. Not to mention I had those on one of my bikes and not even close to 2000 miles and I had them fail on me.
one of my friend told me the same thing about the slicks, because originally i was looking for other then the whitewall michelin's but then i went to someone who makes alot of these fixies a year and he adviced me not the use the thickslick's but to go for durability and buy the michelins
