What kind of pedals for a clyde

Hello all, this is my first post in this forum, but I've posted in the commuter section a few times. I weigh about 275lbs and commute to work 4 to 5 times a week. It's only 2 miles each way. Tonight on my way in, my pedals it sounds like we're creaking really loudly whenever any pressure was placed on them.

I ride my bike to work but also recreationally. It's a 2014 trek xcaliber 6 that came with nylon wellgo platforms. I don't ride often enough to justify getting clip ins, but what wondering what type of platforms are good?

I work as a truck driver and I wear boots in my way in to work. I unload food manually down a ramp so I have pretty string legs. Anyone have any advice or is this post better suited for the commuter section?
