Another important variable is how the tubes are joined. Lugs or no lugs, brazed, silver soldered, bead welded (mig, tig, heli-arc?), bonded ("glued"), monocoque, etc. and how the chosen joining method plays with the chosen tubes.
A common newbie mistake is to stubbornly believe that none of this matters. It does. It all matters.
