Trek 750 Multitrack Time Capsule

I have been searching for a Trek 750 Multitrack with a lugged frame for quite awhile. I have never seen one in our local CL so I advertised that I wanted to buy one. I have had the ad up for over a month. Last week I got a call from someone who had one that his father bought new and gave to him about 2008. It was not his kind of bike and he never rode it. The next day I went to his place of business to take a look at it. I found it to be pristine with hardly a scratch on it. It had a Blackburn rack, a dorky Avocet saddle with its cloth cover starting to come off and period lighting and computer. The knobby 700 x 35 tires were old but have plenty of tread. I was able to pick it up for $175.
I was inspired to want one by Peter Lombardi’s blog:
nearly a year later, Trek 750 Multitrack?blog.peterlombardi.com | blog.peterlombardi.com
As you can see, he spared no expense with high line components.
One tire would not air up so I replaced a tube and took it for a short ride in my neighborhood. The SunTour Accushift drive train still indexes perfectly. It had an extremely solid high quality feel. I think there are a lot of areas where I could pare down the weight on this bike. For now I will service all the bearings and probably install some 700 x 38 Panaracer Pasela tires.
