I agree with you for the most part, but as I am relegating this bike to a trainer the stem shifters keep cost down and are in an okay location for trainer use. I purchased a Raleigh Revinio 2.0 last week to replace this bike as the Raleigh was much lighter and the slightly shorter frame makes it easier for me to mount/dismount (60cm frame as opposed to the 26 inch frame on the Centurion).
