Red face Great LBS buying experience

25 yrs out of bicycling, my last bike was a 1986 Ross Mt Washington mountain bike. I posted earlier asking opinions on Cannondale Quick 4, Trek Verve 3, and Shift 3. I'm looking into getting back into cardio shape and also take some easier rides with my son in a carrier. I took the advice of a LBS that said the Verve was the route for me. They had none in stock but said they could order one. Before I had them do that I called another LBS and they had one in stock.

Long story short, I knew the first day I made a mistake. I was pedaling and getting nowhere, the seat was too wide and comfortable if that's possible. I tried the bike with my son in the carrier and with the carrier removed ( I highly recommend the Thule ride along, easy to take off the bike when you want to go for rides on your own, and very adjustable).

I called the LBS, fully expecting to pay a restocking fee , after all it was my fault I chose the wrong bike not his. I was quite surprised that he instead said as long as the Verve came back in the same shape it left he would exchange the bike. He was more interested in me getting the right bike.

Tried the 20" 7.2 FX and the Giant Escape 1. Very comparable bikes but I ended up going with the Giant XL, turns out it fits me better since I have a longer upper torso. I should have the new bike by the end of the week. Looking forward to riding
