It reminds me of the 2nd(?) version of the Mountech, and I have to admit not really scoping one out before since I don't usually ride friction shifters with huge freewheels.
I remember Shimano 600 derailers with push-button chain-release latch on the cage, from the late 1970's.

Cool bike though, with that crankset you can pretty well assume it's a great find. Did you ever post photos of the bike?

Had those cranks on my '84 Stumpjumper Sport, on my Centurion ProTour15, and even now on my Nishiki Seral tourer.
